today i filed away the music that has been cluttered on the floor of my office for the past 3-4 months. the music files are filled to capacity now and i can actually see the carpet in my office. strangely, i feel as though it looked like i was actually important or useful when i had about 10 or so piles of random music on the floor. now, it's bare. perhaps i should've waited until i actually saw my contract for next year in person before i start looking relaxed.
today i also scheduled summer band lessons and i determined the 4 dates for marching band camp in august. i sent in my 4th quarter midterm grades... practically on time. i prepared awards and senior plaques for tomorrow night's awards banquet. i read proctor assignments and requirements for tomorrow's 3 hour test which is given to 9th-11th graders.
i want to teach music, i think.
the superintendent said that we will know our assignments by the end of the week. or maybe he meant that we would be given our contrats by friday, who really knows. i'm confused. teaching music isn't really about the music, it's about teaching students. i don't think i really knew what that meant until this semester. not that the music doesn't matter, of course. i think it will get easier as i get older.
it's so important to stay positive. just stay positive.
