last night i played in our local community band. 56 people showed up. it was awesome!
anyway, funny story.....
a few of my students who graduated this spring came to play in the band. i started chatting with them in-between songs; it was really good to see them. so one of them starts joking around with me and starts referring to me as "jenna." i actually started blushing! i was so embarrassed! i don't know why i reacted in that way- it was sooooo funny! i told her to show some respect but she said that since she has graduated she can call me jenna! i couldn't stop laughing! i told her that "jenna" doesn't exist anymore. just ms. t. she wants to call me ms. jt. ummm. no.
the ex-high school seniors want to take me to see a drum core show in des moines (one of my percussionists is a member of the colt cadets). i'm not sure if i should go- they really want to go shopping and make t-shirts. i asked if i should be the chaperon and they just laughed. i don't think i'm comfortable with it but i must admit- it would be fun.
a junior from a neighboring district sat next to me during the rehearsal. i know her from a different local community band. after listening to me chat with the poky hs girls she asked me if i was a teacher. i told her that i was the hs band director and she said that she wished i was her teacher. that was touching. i don't know if she realizes that i'm not that great as a teacher- i just know how to deliver a line. still, i was happy she said that.
my boyfriend... or whatever you would call him... just bought a silver Cadillac sts Tuesday. it is ridiculously nice. he went shopping for a house yesterday. i'm looking forward to welcoming him back to the "poor" club. apparently he is frugal.... or so he says. i guess he knows what he's doing- whenever he talks about economics i have to laugh.
