it seems as though i'm not a morning person

my first student dropped band today. this student lied right to my face. i don't know if i'll ever get used to that. i'm not taking it personal, but i can't help but feel sorry that it happened. what a way to start my morning.

i've learned a lot since graduation. i am still learning a lot.
i've learned that teaching high school is not out of my grasp.
i've learned that marching band doesn't have to be terrifying.
i've learned that budgeting is hard and i should admire those who can do it.
i've learned that friends are hard to come by and to never take them for granted.
i've learned that confidence can be successfully faked.
i've learned that you have to be ready for anything; flexibility is essential.
i've learned that a smile and a little attention can brighten a student's day.
i've learned that being a team player requires time, energy, and a willingness to compromise and forgive.
i've learned that one of the worst feelings in the world is loneliness.

ah, and life goes on. i've only begun my teaching career. perhaps i may even get a paycheck soon. that would be lovely. hey, but i've joined the union. i suppose that means i've successfully entered the world of teaching. bring it on, young adolescents!
