2008: it happened

another year is gone. perhaps one of the craziest in my life.... so far.

well, some major things happened this year. i became an aunt to kamryn. i adopted my first pet, sadie. my brother married darla. my last semester of school was both a time of learning and of love. i witnessed my college family scatter to start new lives as i graduated from college, moved home for a long summer of unemployment, moved out for good, made a new home in iowa, and started my first 'real' job.

a lot of changes... some of them more difficult than expected but all of them good.

christmas was good. i had 2 family christmas gatherings to attend. i got a set of nice pans, beatles coasters, and a really old but totally awesome x-files computer game. i guess my mom got it for 3 dollars but its worth so much more.

my new years eve was amazing. i had the best beer in my life over great conversation at a late dinner (the beer didn't have any oranges in it). the night continued with a little singin' and a little dancin' and about three quarters of a bottle of champagne... among other things. my friend only had champagne glasses from 2007 but i think they worked wonderfully in a strange way. the 7 almost looked like a 9.
anyway, my friends from home were perfect company. they make me laugh so hard. i can't believe how we are all so different. its funny to think i used to believe we were so similar. maybe we were. i'm so happy and honored to know them.

back to school, back to school
tomorrow is monday. apparently i have to work tomorrow.... someone pinch me. no, i'm alright with going back. i'm not really prepared, but hey, did anyone think i would actually do anything at home over the break? i mean, its not like i had 2 weeks off or anything. i hope the kids are semi-glad to be back. i remember coming back to school after college break. i think i always needed a few hours to adjust mentally to being back at school, but overall i think i was happy to be back.
perhaps its the same for teachers. i'm going to get there early so if i end up crying i'll have time to breathe before the 5th graders come.
