"ms. t, you're my role model!"
how touching. well, actually, she was laughing when she said it. of course, i think it means more if it is said in humor.
yeah, today i let loose- i brought down some barriers that i built up. i had more fun today than i have had in a long time. thanks, in part, to my week of teaching transposition in the music theory class.
"transposition?!"
if you know anything about the topic than you know how hard it is in the beginning to understand (well, lets be honest, the confusion never really leaves completely). thankfully, with the use of their band instruments and a piano, the students seem to understand.
toward the end of the class, i was singing 'lean on me' with the choir director -the only accompaniment i was able to provide was the cling/clang of the tambourine. (we brought out a elem. singing book to transpose the melodies to different instruments... lets just say you can't just play these songs- you have to sing them at the top of your lungs... with tambourine accompaniment)
i also had the opportunity to conduct the 100 member choir and a 30 member band in rehearsal today. that was extremely loud. my ears haven't recovered yet. we are combining forces to play/sing together at the veteran's day assembly next week. it should be magical.
so, overall, today was a good day. tomorrow, i have a long day of mentoring meetings and 4 hours of parent teacher conferences. yay. i... can't... wait.
